The Survival Guide

Screen Shot 2018-06-02 at 4.02.36 PMAs most of us are gearing up for festival season, or if you’ve never been to one you’ve possibly already committed to a festival or you’re on the fence of deciding. Let us just say, commit. You will not regret it. Now, if you’ve been to a festival, then you’ll know that it’s trial and error trying to figure out what works best for you and the rave fam in terms of getting ready for a camping/traveling festival. We know it goes.

So we’ve decided to take on all that trial and error ourselves, and over the years have put together a survival guide, outlining all the little things (and the big ones) that make our camping/festival season perfect! (ps- click the pictures to download the entire Ultimate Survival Guide)

Here are the basics of the nitty gritty that we recommend you know. This is a great starting point for anyone who just wants to know what they’re getting themselves into when they commit to any music festival!

First things first…

Know what’s available to you with whatever ticket option that you buy. Not every music festival ticket includes camping access. Sometimes it’s easier to get the most bang for your buck to upgrade rather than spend extra money on a ticket and a camping pass. Each festival has their own breakdown of what each of their ticket options will include, so check out the main festival’s website to get those details!

Yes, this is going to be very important when planning out packing, preparation, blah blah blah. Make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into with camping. Certain festivals will include a space for your car within your camping space (i.e. Bonnaroo, Electric Forest), others will either require you to park somewhere else and carry your things to a designated space (i.e. Camp Bisco), or there is just no camping allowed in general (i.e. Beyond Wonderland), so  make sure you know what is and isn’t available when you’re deciding which festivals to attend. Having a good tent is also another good choice, don’t catch yourself out in the cold at night or in the hella hot in the mornings. Losing sleep while you’re raging for 2-4 days wont do anyone any good!

Outside of making sure that you’re setting yourself up for a successful amount of sleep, having a cute and fun camping site doesn’t hurt either. Decorations can always function as multiple uses, so make sure that you’re utilizing all the things you’re bringing for the most usable space in your car! Decorations make your campsite fun, but they also make it easier to find your campsite when you’re looking for it later! While we’re talking about adding our own flavor to our campsite, packing your own flavor is doubley important.

Will I have room for my clothes?

So lets just talk about it- we know that one of the best ways to do that is with a little fashion. So, let’s just talk about it for a second. If you’re planning on bringing a whole wardrobe (ladies we’re winking at you), knowing how to bring all the right items is going to be essential. Not only so that you can look at cute as possible while still getting all your new outfits in the car! Being able to pair those items with different things is going to be essential in doing so.

Health & Safety

brooke-lark-186926Lets just address what we all hate hearing about. Health & Safety. I’m sure we’ve all heard it a million times, but a music festival is a marathon, not a sprint. If you’re a little careless when it comes to taking care of our bodies, there are ways to make sure that you’re supplementing in another way! The good news is that usually festivals are diet-friendly and there are always healthy alternatives, as well as just outright getting yourself some good water/drink supplements/vitamins! If you don’t take care of yourself you’re never going to survive a festival, and take it from us, being so dehydrated and hungry that you can’t even get out of your hammock on the last day to catch the closing acts sucks. Just drink enough water, eat the right foods, just be good to your body and we promise it’ll be good right back to you!

Make sure your car is health too…

Making sure that your car is ready for the festival is just as important as making sure that you’re ready for your festival. But worry not, there are loads of different things that you can do to make sure that you won’t be one of those unfortunate souls that are broke down on the side of the road. The biggest thing that you need to make sure of is that you know what your mileage is at, and take the proper precautions to ensure you’ll make it to the festival grounds and back!

Now, stress not little ones if you still feel unprepared. We’ve created an entire Ultimate Festival Survival Guide just for all you guys. And do you want to know what the best part is?

IT’S FREE

If you rave, this is stuff you’re going to want to know. And it’s free, so why not right?
