Now that you’ve likely purchased your tickets (if not, see here) and the next step is preparation. Making sure you have the appropriate festival essentials is exceptionally important. Here’s a break down of the festival essentials I highly recommend having specifically curated for Lost Lands.
Travel
Making sure that you actually make it to the festival is clearly important. Double-check that your car is able to make the trip! I recommend checking your mileage, any services that need to be performed, as well as blowing up the air in your tires and checking for holes!
What you should have:
- Tire Repair Kit
- Air pump
What I would die without:
- Easily accessible snacks/drinks for the line & wait into camping
- Jumper cables
The Campsite
Having somewhere comfortable and safe to sleep and hang out is very important. Taking into account that there is very little to do at the festival outside of the venue, it’s also important to have things to do! This list obviously doesn’t include the more minute details of campsites, but you can find those over here.
What I would die without:
- Multi-tool
- Cuddle puddle
- Camp lantern
- Tapestries *It gets really dusty so having something to keep out the dust a little is SO nice.
- Don’t forget your zip ties!
- Waterproof tent spray *everything is on a hill at LL, so if it rains, you run the risk of being in a valley where all the water will pool into your tent. Don’t be a wet, sadboi.
Comfort
This section is probably one of my favorites when it comes to Lost Lands essentials! Making sure that I have all the comforts of being at home is an important part of enjoying my festival experiences. Not to mention that this category also houses my favorite ‘medical necessities’ too. These are my festival GEMS. Without these items, it’s EASY for me to say I would be slightly lost without them!
What you should have:
- Lawn chairs/inflatable chairs
- Aloe Vera
- Sun Screen
- Magnesium
- Vitamin C
- Face masks/pashminas *it’s VERY dusty at Lost Lands and having something to cover you from that is essential
What I would die without:
- Battery-powered fan
- Wet wipes
- Water cooling towels *these are ESSENTIAL when it comes to hot or dusty festivals
Food
Another important part of the festival experience. Unlike other festivals, I won’t say that you’ll have endless options like at Bonnaroo, but there are some saucy options available. However, I highly recommend planning on cooking food while you’re at Lost Lands- save your bucks & put some healthy fuel into that body!
What you should have:
- Camping stove
- Easy make food
- Utensils
- Napkins
- Pots/pans
What I would die without:
- TRASH BAGS
- *I CANNOT stress this enough. PLEASE DO NOT just throw your trash on the ground, or drive over trash when you’re entering/leaving the venue.
- Extra ‘beverages’
The Venue
Lost Lands is a festival has a really interesting venue. There are two HUGE stages, each with their own vibes and spaces. Surprisingly enough, there isn’t a lot of sound bleed-over between them. You really only hear both stages at once when you’re directly in-between them. However, having the proper Lost Lands essentials inside the venue is key!
What you should have:
- Hand/Battery fan
- Light blanket/tapestry/pashmina
What I would die without:
- Spray water bottle
- Hat
- DUST MASK
- *IT IS DUSTY. Do your lungs a favor and get a mask, pashmina, something.
- Water cooling towel
- Hammock
The Legend Valley venue can be a dusty place- and a muddy one if the weather goes in that direction. Check the weather before you go and plan accordingly! Having a dust mask my first year was LIFE-SAVING. Not to be dramatic or anything- it was just that dusty. I highly recommend a hammock! There are several spaces in the venue where you can set up, but they fill up quick. So send someone into the venue early to grab your squad spots.
