The BEST Shoes for Festival Season

Shoes are underrated one of the most important things when it comes to planning for the festival season. Sure those shoes look amazing but are they going to last a savage 4 day festival weekend? Maybe, maybe not. Here are all the shoes that I personally love when it comes to festivals, and the best part? They’re all durable as fuck. So rage away, you savages.

Sandals

These are an option that I’m super stoked to be exploring more of coming into the 2019 season. Not to mention that there are tons of different brands and looks out there. And they even have men’s options too! *wheeeee* In previous years I’ve been a true lover of all things Burkenstock (and still am), however, I’ve recently started a love affair with Teva and oh my gawd. They’re great. If these brands aren’t your style, make sure you take a look at Rainbow, Chacos and even just a regular old pair from Walmart will do the trick too!

Burkenstocks

Burks are a solid ‘always-in-my-bag’ option when it comes to festival season. These babies are a love for me because they completely conform to your feet. They’re like little clouds on my piglets. However, they do need to be fully broken in before you decide to walk a long way in them! For me this usually takes about 3-5 days depending on how frequently you walk in them.

Teva

Now, these are a more recent find for me, but my festival friends have been rocking these for a while. What made me change my mind you ask? Well… They sell platform versions. And if you follow me on social, then you know I love anything and everything that is platform. Not to mention that she shoes are literally designed for hiking and walking long distances (can you say, hello Bonnaroo & Electric Forest?).

Sneakers

This section speaks for itself, but let me just say this- sneakers are underratedly the best during festival season. That’s right, I went there. When you’re walking your ass off having something comfortable for your feet is the difference between you making it to that late night set or not. I personally love my Converse, Nikes and Vans. All for relatively different reasons too! They’re all comfortable, but they afford a different style of look for me too. If these don’t necessarily rock your world, make sure to check out Fila and Reebok for alternative options!

Converse/Vans

The classic white Converse and black Vans have really made their way into festival fashion. These shoes are great not only because they come in so many different styles and colors, but they’re also so comfortable! Of course, both companies also offer platform options. Trust me, I feel you- platforms or die.

Nikes

My Nikes are the perfect shoes for those Sundays at the festival when I’m hurting a little during the day. They’re comfortable, and allow me to pair just about any outfit with them since mine are black.

Boots/Combat Boots

Boots have been the essential go-to for rave babes far and wide for a while now. Luckily, it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon either. I would almost consider these a festival closet essential. Festival boots are diverse, and typically pretty durable if you’re willing to invest in a semi-decent pair. They can range from ankle boots to knee-high boots, and don’t forget chunky platforms. Personally? I’m a boots whore- I have more pairs than I really know what to do with, but I love the look and the extra height that I get from the platform ones! For those of you looking for something different, I also recommend checking out Timberlands!

Combat Boots

These are a great option if you’re not looking to drop a lot of money on a pair of festival shoes. You can typically find some pretty decent pairs of ankle boots online (Zappos, Call it Spring) or even at TJ Maxx and Target. I definitely encourage you to invest in a semi-decent/durable pair. Having shitty shoes a the festival blows. So save yourself the heartache/pain.

Dr. Marten Boots

I have a personal obsession/love for Dr. Marten’s boots. I think they’re amazing, comfortable and exceptionally durable. I’ve owned several pairs (mostly platforms) and have never been disappointed. I’m pretty rough with my shoes, and I can get over a year in my boots. That includes wearing them IRL AND when with at least two festivals and hundreds of single night shows.

Platforms

If you all follow me on social, then you already know I have an obsession with anything that’s a platform. So much so, I don’t only wear them when I’m at the rave, but I wear them in real life too! (Don’t believe me? Go see for yourself here). I think they’re sooo comfortable. Not only do they have a little more cushion, but they also give me some extra inches. This is a great option for all you shorties in the back.

Dr. Martens

Again- a brand that I personally love. I’ve worn the shit out all of their boots and they last always. I’ve had several pairs, and their platforms rock my world. They have several different kinds, but I’ve found that ones with a zipper are easiest when I need to be quick. The ones above I wore a lot. I’m 2 years in (several festivals and hundreds shows), and still kickin’. So, although a hefty investment upfront, they definitely last their worth.

Demonia/YRU

If you’re familiar with DollsKill (guilty, another favorite) then you’re familiar with these brands. They both supply to DollsKill, but also have their own independent sites that you can purchase from, too. The sites have a lot more options, and wow. I highly recommend these if you’re looking for something more ‘specific’ to go with a look!

SO, overall- these are my go-to festival and rave shoes for 2019. These options are all going to give you what you’re looking for, and then a little extra! I’m pretty rough on my shoes, so having ones that not only look good but are durable is super important. What kind of shoes do you all rave and fest in?
