The Top 5 Best East Coast Music Festivals in 2022

Trying to decide which music festivals to attend can be a lot! Not to mention when lineup season happens, it makes that decision even harder. We all know, there are so many different factors that come into play when making this choice too! After taking a pole from the community, the vibe, the music, and demographic were the top 3 important factors. So- I’m sharing the top 5 best east coast music festivals in 2022 that you absolutely need to have on your radar!

Bonnaroo

The Vibe

Relaxing. The Farm is expansive and offers something for everyone. Bonnaroo Music Festival offers activities for everyone and tons of opportunities to relax and rejuvenate! Vibes are very mellow but the late-night events get rowdy.

The Music

Well known for an exceptionally diverse lineup, Bonnaroo for 2022 is just that. For fans of classics, like The Chicks and Stevie Nicks, to millennials who like Machine Gun Kelly, and 21 Savage, and EDM lovers alike raving to sounds of Flume and Illenium.

Outside of the standard lineup, Bonnaroo is also well known for its “late-night” sets which frequently include secrete artists!

Demographic

Bonnaroo is an all-ages event which means the demographic is exceptionally diverse. Families, teenagers, young adults, and older ravers will all be found at this event. For 2022, continue to expect a diverse demographic with the lineup!

Okeechobee

The Vibe

Okee is well known for the amazing vibes it offers. After a brief break and switch in owners, they’re back and better for 2022. Think funky, hippy, bass vibes.

The Music

Diversity is the name of the game! Okeechobee is a multi-genre festival (similar to Bonnaroo) that does tend to cater more towards the EDM world. Although the Okeechobee lineup is relatively diverse, I would say that the event does tend to cater a little more towards funk/groove EDM.

Demographic

This event is for attendees 18+, so although you don’t have to worry about children running around, anticipate a younger crowd versus an older one/more diverse one like Forest and Roo.

Lost Lands

The Vibe

Lost Lands is a party. For those that attend, it’s 24/7 mayhem and activities. Since the festival grounds are limited in terms of actual activities, most attendees are “filling the time” until the venue opens (usually around noon-ish). This means there are noticeably more fucked up people running around than compared to other events, IMO. However, the people are typically friendly but the venue does get a little crowded so be prepared to fight through some crowds.

The Music

Bass, bass, and more bass. Lost Lands Music Festival has broken my ability to even feel bass after the event. I am continually impressed by the diversity of bass that the event is able to continuously bring though and do always get excited by the usually once-in-a-lifetime B2Bs they boast.

Demographic

Lost Lands is definitely a college/young adult vibe. Although you will find a range of ages because EDM is truly that diverse, college-ish is the majority.

EDC: Orlando

The Vibe

Expect great vibes while you’re at EDC Orlando. Outside of the quality production that Insomniac is known for, the experience at EDCO is a more laid-back experience compared to its cousin, EDC: LV.

Demographic

EDC: Orlando is a 21+ event. I would say that the demographic of this event is typically more young adults, versus how diverse and expansive the demographics are at EDC: LV.

The Music

Diversity diversity diversity! Insomniac is great at pulling together amazing lineups and EDCO is no different. The lineup is always diverse, offering genres like future bass, dubstep, house, trance, techno and SO much more. Not to mention, underground/ up-and-coming artists that you’ll be so glad you found!

Big Dub

The Vibe

A more relaxed version of Electric Forest is a great representation of Big Dub. Hidden away in the forests of Pennsylvania, Big Dub is a totally immersive and experiential event, boasting massively diverse lineups that bring in people from all over the United States.

The Music

Big Dub does cater more towards funk and groove bands, but in recent years they have started to add more diversity within the EDM genres. If the music isn’t your vibe, then the activities will definitely catch your eye!

Demographic

This is an 18+ event so the demographic does tend to be a little younger. However, given the artists that typically are on the lineup, there is usually a diverse demographic of young adults and older ravers.

Like I mentioned earlier, these are THE top 5 best east coast music festivals for 2022. Some of the lineups haven’t dropped yet so make sure to stay tuned for those lineup reviews! In the meantime, check out the festival guides that are already available (Bonnaroo Festival Guide & Lost Lands). New ones are going live this year!
